Romanian Development League

Inspired by the Dutch initiative, a small group of romanian managers decided to take fate into their own hands. Romania has a small pool of players, and if we want to stay in the top (WC and U19 runner-up) we need to take better care of the youth.

We created the Romanian Development League (LRD) with the sole purpose of taking better care of the romanian young players and teams.

Our objectives are : 2600 rookies this season in Romania, atleast 50 rookies with SI>20.000 at the end of the season, teams in a lower div than 1.1 don't have an age average bigger than 22.
(some of the objectives)

In order to achive this we will run some projects.
The first one is named Rookie Challenge: We support and encourage div 1.x teams and lower to extract rookies weekly. If they do this, they will be rewarded: after 4 consecutive drafts they will receive 20 cbmoney, for every rookie >12.000 SI they will receive 20 cbmoney more. Also at the end of the season the rookie with most minutes, and better SI will win for his owner another prize. The cbmoney come from the initiative group which managed to gather 1300 Cbmoney untill now.

Already results are good more than 20 users entering the program in the first days.

Other planned programs are U18 Domestic cup and Coach aid program.

3 in a row.. still rolling

Last night, the Belgium squad managed to win the game in an easier way than the score shows it. The WC final was labeled as the match between a great team and a good manager. The matched showed that the game faced too great teams and a good manager on the Belgian side.

It's hard for me to be objective, but i can't get over with it. As the Romanian NT manager you have to be aware that a win was posible. And although Spain, Italy or Lithuania have a bunch of really talented players, Romania has some smart trained guys. Nederlands is doing it too, they have a small pool of players so they decided to take care of them with any means. So, most of you thought and still think that Belgium is too good for the others. That's half true.. Romania was closer than you can think.

The match was won by Belgium due to a great defensive management. Offensive threats like Badoiu or Stefanescu strugled all night. A team that averaged around 90 points was kept a little above 50. Romania did well also, the defensive focus helped keeping the game within reach. At this point Belgium had better one on one players..that brought them the victory, they managed to get the tactical factor out of the equation.

The Romanian side was predictable.. that's what lost the match. BdB expected Badoiu to catch and shoot and stefanescu too toss his strength under the hoop, and coordinated aerts-tremerie and huby-christodo-bulcke almost perfect. Even so.. Romania lacked enough versatility as the big guys can't rebound that well that they can supply their own shots and the small guys can't defend without being def focused.

In conclusion, Belgium deserved this victory because they worked hard for it. Hopefully Romania will have another chance at the title... they will not miss it the second time.

Small Forward, The Guide

"The small forward, or, colloquially, the three, is one of the five positions in a regulation basketball game. Small forwards are typically somewhat shorter, quicker, and leaner than power forwards and centers, but on occasion are just as tall. The small forward position is considered to be perhaps the most versatile of the main five basketball positions, due to the nature of its role. Most current NBA small forwards are between 6'5" and 6'11" in height."

Versatility , this is the word for this position. Also, this is the position where many og the young players in search of their style start. Kevin Garnett started as a SF, now he plays the 4th and 5th postion., Paul Pierce, Tracy McGready started at SF and ended SGs, the same with Vince Carter or even Mike Miller. Odom is another example of SF tuned into a PF. The SF is most likely to be able to play up to 3 positions, some even 4., mainly because they use a wide range of skills and atributes.

Most probably this is happeneing in Charazay since this season. The Small forward becomes the joly joker in any game. I'm not saying this will be the most important position, but the changes open a new window of tactical posibilities.

First of all: The skills needed:
You need defence, 2points, dribling, speed, footwork, rebounds, passing... Damn it..everything.

SF profiles:

1. The wingman:
Got a tall SG? Move him into the 3 position, and see what he brings. Play the NJ style with Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson as wingmans. Mainly you will need drribling and speed for this position and also footwork not passing. This is the main difference between SG and an offensive SF. Footwork will give him a boost in athleticism and also will aid him in slashing in the paint. Don't forget about the 2p if you want him to score +50%.

Prototype:
2.03-97
def:10 ft:7
2p:12 3p:8
dri:13 pas:7
spe:13 foot:10
reb:7 exp:X

2. The stoper
Most of the actual SFs are defensive players, because not knowing how to train them offesively pushed users in creative defensive weapons. This is still a very good sollution, and a defensive guy can do alot of damage as he can play the SG spot if required and also trouble the pumped footwork PF. Give him Def and also speed, footwork. If you want him to defend bigger guy add strength and train more footwork, if you want him to defend the perimeter train speed. Anyways speed or footwork should't be more than 66% of the def value.

Prototype:
2.03-97
def:20 ft:5
2p:5 3p:5
dri:7 pas:5
spe:10foot:10
reb:7 exp:X

3. The rebounder
We know how to build a scorer at PF and we know how to create one at SG, but we are not sure about SF. Let's use this postion for something else: rebounding. You can release some presure from the C and PF who have offensive responsabilities, by creating a reboudner SF. Train rebs, def and footwork.

Prototype:
2.10-102
def:10 ft:5
2p:5 3p:5
dri:7 pas:5
spe:7 foot:9
reb:20 exp:X

4. The Big Small forward
If you want a scoring SF there is another way to do it, make a slasher. Here you need to focus more on the footwork than dribling. And also don't bother with 3points. Aditionally some rebounding power will make a great combination along with footowrk for off.rebounding.

Prototype:
2.08-104
def:8 ft:7
2p:12 3p:3
dri:9 pas:5
spe:15 foot:13
reb:10 exp:X

5. The guardian
This is a combination between the stoper and the rebounder. You train only two atributes, defense and rebounding. And aditionally some speed or dribling if TO are a problem. This guy can rebound and defend and also should be taller than the average SFs.

Prototype:
2.12-105
def:15 ft:3
2p:5 3p:3
dri:5 pas:4
spe:6 foot:4
reb:15 exp:X

6. The teamguy
Sometimes having a specialised player can hurt you if the other manager knows your week spot. That's why sometimes it's wise to have a do it all SF, especially generate some extra passing potential. You must train equally def, dri, spe, foot, reb and also some passing along with 2p.

Prototype:
2.05-100
def:11 ft:7
2p:10 3p:5
dri:10 pas:8
spe:11 foot:10
reb:10 exp:X

No matter your type of SF, you must see the tactic as awhole. Having 2 wingmans at sG and SF, requires some extra rebounding and strength from PF and C. Getting a reboudner at the 3 position must bring some scoring from the 4th or 5th positions.

This being said good luck, and server up!

3 in a row

Belgium lsot to Estonia in the last group match, but defenetly that's not the true face of the title holders. Still how can you beat them? Extreme defense, solid rebounding, natural born shooters, what are they lacking?

If you had to face them, what would you do? What weak spot would you exploit?

Hyped Skills

The overrated skills dribbling and footwork.

It sounds strange, as these skills are highly popular nowadays in Charazay, and I even train them, but they are not needed.

Excel in these 5 skills and you'll be unstoppable:

Rebounds
Passing
Speed
Defence
2 Points

Why will this be so effective? I'll give you the players needed here: They almost do not exist, but they could've been trained this way easily. 45 in 3 skills isn't uncommon. These standards are for topteams, though. It can be lower too, these guys just give you an idea how they need to be shaped.

Here's the deal tactically. You're fine defensively. So there will be many missed shots. You got 2 fine rebounders, so they'll catch some rebounds. The center will shoot them with his 15 2p and the PF will pass the catched shots to the PG. He will provide the SG/SF/C with an easy chance. The center will score due to his great 2points, the speedy SG and SF already had all the time to pick up a fine pass from the PG and has an easy shot.

Of course this is just a theoretical discussion, as there's no such team around. But at least it's interesting enough to talk about. Will this only work in theory, or is there someone brave enough to try?

Many Thanks to barthijzz for this article.

Round 3

I want to remember you about this post:
http://charazayworld.blogspot.com/2007/07/charazay-can-drink-beer-and-drive.html

Like i was saying, the top10 teams last year are now top20 even top25. The proof? round 3 of this year's IC. I want to congratulate hawk(eric8air), iceman and woland for their performances, eliminating teams with a better chance at winning the IC.

A short review of some of the games:

BG Fighters - Bear River Bruins
Although the game was preatty even, the italians won with a solid performance on defence and rebounds. The lack of depth finally hit the rebuilding squad of bearriverbruins

Estoril Boys - Virtus Bologna
Apparently the most valuable player in Charazay (Wannes Bulcke) all time was outplayed by Jerry Treacy. But that wasn't the key to winning the match, the key was 3pointers. Sommers, Winter, Lucey nailed not less than 10 rpointers.

One Love Malmo - San Juan Legends
It was a one man show, Martinsson scored almost half of Malmo's points and rebounds. He was the one that with 36 secs on the clock managed to put Malmo in front. On the other hand the argentinians did a good job, but not enough. Congratulations to both, a good show.

Really an interesting competition, that brings alot of excitment, and this makes me wander, if it wouldn't be interesting to change the format for next years.

Road to succes

Despite the name of this post.. i will give some advices that might help your team on the long run. Still, although most of them are tested don't expect to hear some succes recipies that will work instantly. Also i will be more than happy if any of the experienced users will support my idea and submit articles or thoughts regarding methods to succed in charazay. I await your articles at mahu.sebastian@gmail.com

Got a new team. What now?

It's been a while since i started this game. And i remember the first 3 season when i was strugling in the 3 div or so. Lots of bad moves for me... GEtting back to business: if you have a new team and you want to be competiteve starting with your 3rd season you should:

1. Get down to the national forums. This is the best piece of advice i can give you, and by far the most valuable. The local community can be the sollution of every problem you have. So go there early and try to familiarise yourself with the guys and the topics there. If you have a question most probably they will give you an answer. (guess this isn't helpfull as most of you got my link from the forums :PPP)

2. Transform your Club in a U17 squad. Go young. Draft as much as you can, if posible every week. Search on the TL for good 15 years old guys that you can buy with prices between 100-500k. Search for efficient players (for forwards 1.90-2.00 height, +5 reb, +5def.+5foot,the rest as low as posible so you get a better price; for guards 1.70-1.85, +5 def, +5 dri, +5 pas,+spe, foot and reb as low as posible) Get 5 players like this and put them in the starting line for 40 mins. Having a total of 8 playable guys is better , in order not to get walkovers. You will lose, and lose bad at the begining, but the guys will quickly go up.

3. Don't spend money on oldies at the begining. In your first year you should not buy any +17 players. They will increase your payroll, and you will not be able to draft youngsters and also you might make the wrong decisions regarding skills. It's better to study the market and also the forums for the first season.

4. Keep your expences low. It is most advised to get a coach +20 to both training schedules as soon as posible. You should stack some for this. Try and arange as many friendlies as you can, you can challege my team, i got a preatty big fan club, or any other team in your top div). Regarding stadium i would like someone to help as i am not able to give any advices, i stoped working on my stadium a while ago. Don't use medical center or dev league now.

5. As the second season starts you should continue the aquisition of 15 year old guys, and also if posible you can sell some of the old crop for good money. Sell 1 or 2 players in order to get some money for coaches and also buy better 15 year talent. Also at this point or either in the 3rd season you cans tart concerning about winning. Get some veteran role players, but not more than 3. Spend the playing time between these 3 and the rookies. Get a heavy rebounder and a solid scorer, this should be enough fr now to promote to the next div. Promotion will mean more weekly money, sometimes alot mroe money :P.

6. Repeat the thing with selling one player and buying 2-3 talents every year, untill your team becomes competitive. At a point you'll be lured by the top veterans 27-30 of age at minimal prices. I advice you not to buy any of them. becuase they will hurt your expenses and also cut the playing time of the rooks. Patience is the key, because when the 15 generation will turn 19 most of them will be U19 internationals and also they will have bug price tags. So waiting pays of.

That's kind of it for now. There only general advices, but i hope for some of you they will usefull. I want to remind you also about the request of helping me with the tutorials.

Wing-man power

In the begining years of charazay, the big men where the answer as rebounding was over rated. Rebounding helped of course for getting the missed shots but also scoring. After a while things turned around, and the Guards started puting tons of points on the socresheet. With the latest changes, you can now use almost every postion to score.

Usually the most used positions for scoring are the center an sg. This means often 2 scorers meet, and the game is only about offence. An interesting experiment is to transform the SG and C position in defensive placements. and turn the offence towards the PF and SF. Why PF and SF? Because PF is used most of the time for rebounding and SF is the mos tunder rated position as people don't know what to use there, so most of the time you got there a short PF or a big SF.

I would like to hear if anyone has tryed using a defensive center or SF, concentrating their defence on the 3rd and 4th position.

WC again

The favourites won all 4 matches, Spain , Italy, Romania, Lithuania, Belgium. Poland was the only big name that had to end with a 3-1 ratio. Still the surprises were few at this level. We couldn't say the same thing when talking about Estonia, UK, Denmark or Brazil. Brazil, Austria, Denmark said good-bye to this championship after failling to cope with the outsiders. Uruguay on the other hand started the WC strong and keep an eye on them in group D. In the same group Slovenia might have a chance but their consistency has been questioned many times before.

4 will qualify from each group, this means 8 will go home. Who will be these 8? First impresion is that the 6th seeds in each group are doomed, but will UK be so easly beaten? or even Norway and Estonia.. they got enough power to come back. Estonia has a big problem..they have no coach, still they need to get over Chile, Uruguay and Slovenia which is posible. USA is the same position, dough they managed to keep it up by themselves (players) preatty well.

Group A: Greece and Canada are a sure thing. USA will strugle a little. The 4th spot is a gamble between the remaining 3.

Group B: Spain , Lithuania, Nederlands will advance. Uk will post some serious challenge against Germany.

Group C: Italy, Romania and Israel are clear favourites. For the forth nothing is sure, dough i doubt France has a chance.

Group D: Poland and Belgium will dominate, but for the last 2..all others have a chance, even Slovenia who is 2nd seed might have to put a serious fight to keep it going.

Charazay's KG

Hot news today: Kevin Garnett will join Ray Allen and Paul Pierce in their attempt to bring Celtics back to where they belong, hi in the eastern division.

I remembered today why is KG a guru in RL basketball, beacuse he is a team player, a solid rebounder, good passer, decent shooter and deadly defender.

Does Charazay have one player like this? Not a prime shooter but a great all-around guy specialised ont he defensive work..

That's the first question that needs to be answered, and the second if there isn't one how should he look?

Charazay can drink beer and drive

We aproach with great speed the 10th season. At this point the first generation of superstars will be 25, an age considered by many as "old". This is when Charazay reaches its maturity, it's like the 18th birthday for a person, from this point on, you can enjoy the interesting but also dangerous things in life.

From now on, all teams will have to balance skill and age, effectiveness and potential. Some teams started in advance doing that, like Dunk_erz and Novi Sad Ravens in Romania, and because of this they will dominate the internal and external fight for the next 2-3 seasons.

The challenge for every team is bigger than ever, of course it's easy to demolish everything and start with a new crop from 0, like Najpet did (they sold what was at that time the best team in charazay and started with only 15 year old players, the price being relegation untill div 3). But who will manage to keep enough impact players and also deal some potential in the depth of the squad will be the most succesfull managers in charazay. Another aspect is the fact that charazay will not be dominated by 10 teams at top level, but with every year, there will be 10 more..so next year 20, the one next after this 30 and so on.

Fun starts also for new users, you can get now heavy veterans with a decent amount of money. This can help new teams face even the most feared opponents. If we take into equation the fatigue factor, the combination is almost perfect. Blacksheeps can be beaten by any team higher than 2nd div in belgium, if they catch the Begium champions at the right time.

I get excited with what's going to happen even as i write these lines, drinking is fun, driving is too.. but who will manage to do them both and not mix them in a deadly way. That's the fun of having a mature game.

Futurology and betting

Anyone can predict the future in charazay, and mostly when it comes to international action. After 3 rounds, the WC still has its favourites unbeaten, Italy, Israel, Belgium, Poland, Spain, Lithuania, Canada, Romania they all have their matches. Still the interesting thing is that Germany is also unbeaten, maybe they are the spark that will lighten this World Cup and surprise everyone.

The IC started with round 0 also, and probably for the next 2 rounds few favourites will be defeteated.

If you think you're good with betting, please join me in this contest.
Anyone who reads this blog can play. You just have to say who will win the IC, and who will get in the top4, and also who will win the WC and who will get in the top4.

A bugless life

Every good thing becomes a bad one in gets too much. It's not the case now with Charazay, and especially it's not the case with being a stable bugless game. But you have to think about it, when the peacefull, cool atmosphere becomes... dull and boring.

I wish i had a volatile discussion with sniper or someone from the crew, i wished there was a bug which made me to say: "Oh my God, what are they doing, got to go on the forums and start a revolution". I wished training was tweaked, so i can check every day and eventually acuse the crew for my players being not trained. I wished some more dirty transfers were made, some more problems with the engine had apperead.. well.. some more hot news or events, being bugless sucks.

Thumbs up for danut and the new guy on the forums, they made think abit about the LH - average players per team indicator. I will have another post about that soon, but in the end... any time, any time now.. server crash maybe? (joke)

Nobody wants me

Hypothesis no.1:
Most of the users are gone in vacation, and they are checking charazay jsut to stay tunned to the scores and eventually any big changes. With the latest news it seems not nothing big will happen untill the end of the season, and people are safe to get away for a couple of weeks from their daily rutines, including computer and charazay.

Hypothesis no.2:
Prices are settling somewhere preatty high, as people are not open to get fewer money then what they spent a little time ago. They want now to get back as much as they can , but on the other side they are scheptical if aquiring new manpower. The problem is that everyone thinks the same, and they want to win big cash and spend money only on special occasions (bot players maybe).

Which one is it? Anyways.. it is a fact that the first 2 pages from the TL (sorted by skill index) have no bidds (except for a 65M trade in Croatia). Will the TL become more active as we aproach the end of the season?

It took 3 years

.. to get this announcement.

http://www.charazayonline.com/

I look in the past and i remember the troubleing times Charazay had to go through. Almost 3 years ago, the game was in its begining days, and a sudden bug mixed the 2p, 3p and ft stats. A wave of complaints struck the entire community as the backups were not functional. That was the first time when the game looked that it will colapse. In the end after 3 days of intense working the bug was corrected (more or less) and everyone was happy.

After this hackers and cheater hit charazay. One of them in particular created chaos on the market puting huge bids on crapy players. Also i remember that at this point i've met bruincoach, who had Nicholas Henderson put by a hacker on the transfer list. Bruincoach who was at that point a simple user was close to quiting the game. Thanks to the_crow and vangos, (both of them not playing anymore, probably the old users remember them) cheaters were caught and mobic designed another security system. Since then hacker atacks haven't been a problem anymore.

Vangos also came with the idea of changing a skill, stamina to footwork. From my point of view it was a veru corageous action, as the game had alreadya couple of seasons, and everyone rpedicted a huge rebelion in the charazay community. The predictions were right, lots of people have quit charzay beacuse of this change, most of them were caught unprepared. In the end after 5 more season i believe it was a great move, as the gameplay works really well with footwork.

Still, the worst days for charazay were at the door. The first server crash, happened somewhere in september 2004, but the big one was in 2005, and practicly paralised charazay for almost one month. Everyone signed R.I.P. on the game. And sincerly i thought it too. I want to thank barthjizz beacuse his activity in that period on the forums motivated alot of users to help at the reconstruction of the community, and stept by step everything was backl on track.

The era of buging started. With most of the ifrastructure in place, the engine started to be upgraded into what is today. I remeber working with rokas almost a month 4 hours per day. Tunning, making tests, retunning... at a point i was dreaming in codelines and how can we implemement better the rebounding. We realesed 4 seasons ago the first version of the current engine. But the big numer of bugs and problems was a big drowback, people tagging the game as being completly random. An entire season developers focused only on improving the engine. A particular black moment was the begining of the 5th season when first round of games were played with a huge bug, only scoring happened from the FT line. For a couple of months users were demanding rematches after every single loss.

Things improved, bruincoach , brotherke and hawk (haven't seen him around for some time) ma de atremendous job with the helpdesk and the communication plan. The site moved to another design , alot of aspects changed also, but with each day the game beacame better and more stable. Charazay has a grea story, and a great community, i could talk for hours about individuals that i consider them my friends. If you are an oldie probably you know what i'm talking about, if you're a new member i advise you to seek the forums it's a great place to meet great persons.

In the end i want to thank rokas, the_crow, vangos, hawk, klumitalax, mobic, dforlan, Air-Cip,Gasol, trybanskmania, mutilator, GM_Sass, blade, barthjizz, bruincoach, zoo and sniper, ananas and many more.. they all contributed alot at what charazay is today.

Guess who updated

The first contest was won by under_net and klumitalax, who...hmm.. were to the only ones that answered and they did it precisely.

The player was Romanian NT member Bogdan Lacatus.

Because that first question was kind of easy, i bring you another one:

Jerry who?

The World Cup has started, the 36 teams started strong, some insisted to play their best line destroying practicly some of the 2nd class teams.

You can find all the results here:
http://www.charazay.com/index.php?act=worldcup

When UK plays, Jerry is the man. Of course there is allstar Eric May. But the hype Jerry generated is beyond reach for the talented guard. Tonight things should have been easy. Treacy dominates the paint, May, Lee, Arbuckle, Burton assisting from the perimeter. The Uruguat are known for their heavy D, but the talent in the UK side was still too much for them..at least on papper.

Things started with UK's possetion, and Treacy missed his first. After young Ballesta puts the first 2 points after a fake on Jerry, the match seems to go on the right track when:

09:30 : Eric May tries a long jumper, but Rafael Rambla blocks the shot with authority
09:30 : The rebound is corralled in by Jerry Treacy
09:27 : Jerry Treacy can't find the rim on a difficult shot attempt
09:27 : Jerry Treacy bulls his way inside for the rebound
09:23 : Jerry Treacy receives the ball at the left angle and banks in a soft shot off the glass (2 - 2)
09:23 : The crowd goes wild after that great play

But after 3 minutes of intense basketball, Uruguay started to put point after point on the table. Superhero Tracy had a rough time in both offence and defence with Juan Carlos Ballesta. After 5 minutes the score was 4-12, Veteran Jason Currie playing with lack of determination and loosing the direct matchup against Pablo Gomez. Also Eric May seemed to have a rough time adapting to the 3 guards tactic UK had in mind for tonight. In the end Currie was fouled out, but Burton, his replacement didn't manage to improve UK's game. First half ends with an incredible 8-20 for Uruguay.

UK started with a fresh line-up ready to start climbing up. Ballesta was unfortuantly still hot. His 10 points made the score 14 - 32, and UK seemed helpless. With Brandon Rogers fired up and Owen Lee with an eagle eye in defence UK made it 22-38 untill halftime.

22 points, probably one of the weakest first halp in UK's history in Charazay.

The 3rd quarter starts, and after a shot clock violation from the Uruguay and a quick 3pointer from Sommers, UK fans started to cheer again for their favourites. Brandon Rogers even made it 29-38, and the downfall of Jerry Tracy seemed to be his tickett to becoming a star. At this moment with Ballesta resting for the final quarter, a new star emerged for the Uruaguay, 23 year old Francisco Aragorn (Curently playing for Yup, in the tough Div A, belgium). 10 points in the 3rd quarter and he managed to keep UK at 14 points behind, entering the final part of the game.

Evryone was looking at Jerry, it was time for him to do his magic. He did it before. Burton has the possesion and gives the ball to Jerry, the crowd feels that this can be the start of the come back, jerry spins inside and score with a lay-up.. and ... a free throw... no, the referee calls traveling.. what a clutch decision. Jerry stays with the referee explaining his actions, and at the other bucket:

09:32 : Alejandro Alamo avoids the trap and delivers a nice pass to the open man
09:27 : Rafael Rambla makes a pass to the open man
09:22 : Juan Carlos Ballesta loses his defender and drains the wide-open jump shot (46 - 62)

There 9 minutes to go, but the game already ended, Burton, Maya r epushing but Ballesta and Gomez are holding their defences up. UK scores, Uruguay does it too... the 20 point difference is unbrakable. 61-81 the final score, and Pablo Gomez is overwhelmed with joy as Uruguay beat one of the big names in this WC.

Playing Eric May as a SF, using a tired Jason Currie, left Jerry Treacy alone, and this time he didn't manage to get the entire team on the winning side.

Congrats to the Uruguay side, a great game, and a great effort. New star are rising, and you'd better memorise their names, becuase you don't want to miss them when they are listed on the market.

Lucky 10

It took some time but finally, communication in charazay reached an average level, and if i remember well it's for the second consecutive season, when future changes are announced with quite some time in advance.

I will make a short summary of the planned changes and also extract some feedback in the end.

1. Change for the skill prequisition in offence for SF and PF
Impact: High
Effect: All teams
Short term influence: Lack of 2.00 players with high dribling and speed is a known fact. Expect their prices to boost in the near future. Also lots of forwards will change their training group in the next weeks.
Long term influence: Some SFs with above 10 footwork will find it difficult to keep pace with faster and better skilled players. Also i predict that more Centers will become two-position players, as PF position will be more flexible and big men will be able to get good performaces as PFs.

2. Shooting importance changed
Impact: High
Effect: All teams
Short term influence: Some footwork/ drribling boosted players will switch to 2p shooting. On the market some users will hunt the so called "shooting-pumped" bot players, hoping they will not be forced to train shooting in the future.
Long term influence: Dough i metioned the rise in demand for shooting-pumped player at short term influence, it is most proabable that this will happen only after Julien carre will have a 35% fg percentage (strong facts to brake the shooting-pumped myth are needed). Sincerly i think shooting was neglected by 95% of the charzay users, now i hope we will have another variable in the tactical field, stay tunned to what new tactics will be discovered using new shooting combo-s.

3. End match momentum and clutch scenarios
Impact: Below average
Effect: All teams
Short term influence: Well, a wave of aplause and goodwill. Most of users will enjoy this feature, and overall atitude towards charzay and charazay management will increase.
Long term influence: I predict more problems to come, since creating scenarios is tricky. It is probable that they will not work as some of uss imagine and again some debates will arise. CAn't say much about this adition as i don't have enough knowledge.

4. Team chemistry influence
Impact: Average
Effect: All teams
Short term influence: The 10% that were scarred to put on the TL a palyer beacuse.. "OMG maybe my team chesmistry will drop" will become just 7%.
Long term influence: I would like to say here that overall the number of transactions will rise, but i don't think this change will bring that. Surely transitions from generation to generation will have a lower impact.

5. Scrimmages
Impact: Below Average
Effect: Supporter teams (not sure about this)
Short term influence: Some more CBMoney will be spent.
Long term influence: New tactics will be easier to implement. Player potential to play different positions will dramaticly change the way tactic creation is seen, now a very big number of friendly teste being needed.

6. Supporter feature (player face)
Impact: Low
Effect: Supporter Teams
Short term influence: Some more CBMoney will be spent. (not necessarly bought)
Long term influence: People will get easly emotionally involved with their franchise palyers (that didn't sound too good).

Important NOTE: All comments are my opinions it is very probable that some are not precise. If i get new info i will keep updating this post.

Estoril boys and Bear River Bruins

What do they have in common?

One team is from Portugal, one is from USA, both have experienced managers, heavy contributers to charazay's community, one team rellys on allstar, big guy Jerry Tracy, the other just has sold frachise player Michael Henderson and NT member Sheldon Batista. The bruins have a NBA low 18,7 age average for their squad, Estoril a decent 21,8.

One thing is that, i for example am looking forward to see them clash in the IC, as this year's competition will be as exciting as ever (without the tubyorcs for the second straight year).

The answer was given probably recently by bruin, they are KINGS of the hill in their countries. None, and when i say none, i'm not thinking about the blacksheapes that waste everyone in belgium, i'm thinking of lance armstrong, michael schumacher, tiger woods... none can threat the leader position for both Bear River Bruins and Estoril Boys in their countries. In USA things are preatty clear .. even without henderson, batista, hanks, bruins rock, maybe for Estoril things will be more exciting when they will be forced to change the stars beacuse of age. Dough i doubt that will be a problem, like bruin, iceman adds fresh young bodies every year.

I wish them good luck in the IC, and at least one loss this season.

FIBA ranks

Belgium, Poland and Romania are all curently unranked in the FIBA world table. Is that awkward? Not really.

http://www.fiba.com/pages/eng/fc/even/rank/p/rankMen.html

The fun part comes here: the 3 mentioned are top 3 in the Charazay Rankings, not by random or luck, but based on performances. It's interesting to see this phenomenon, as my conclusion is that all 3 have good managers that can do a good job while in front of the computer but fail in the sports hall.

Behinf no 4 to 6 are Spain, Lithuania and Italy, really powerfull conutries when it comes to real basketbal. Most probably these 3 will dominate the NT rankings in 5 seasons, as they all have big communities and lots of talent.

But what will happen at the incoming World Cup, set to begin on monday.

First round will probably be kind of borring, the big favourites expected to go cruising. The interesting battle will be for 3rd and 4th position. For example Chile and argentina in group A, Norway and serbia in group C, Slovenia and Portugal in group E.

The groups that have big names are group A with Israel looking forward to crack both Belgium and Estonia, and also group D, Where Greece can be the big surprise and outclass UK and Canada. Romania and Spain are strong favourites in their groups as neither Sweeden, nor USA can match the top squads. In group B, Nederlands and Italy are expected to win by a large margin the group.

Group C is an interesting one, with Poland and Lithuania beining favourites for the finals, and also a young determined Serbian side that are looking forward to ahve an impact at this WC.

Teams to watch:

Outsiders: Serbia and Germany, they did great in their qualifying games and also performed ok in friendlies, i wouldn't be surprised if they advaced in top 16.

Big names: Lithuania and Belgium, if you take into account the potential and also the balance between all postions, Belgium is almost flawless, that's why their biggest competitor is the pressure of winning another WC. Lithuania is kind of underated, but they have the potential of blowing any other NT, so keep an eye on them.

More details after the first fixtures.

Is winning boring?

I can't know.. 99.9% of the charazay users don't know the answer to this question, dough there is an individual that probably asks himself this quation quite often..

Yup that's right, the evil, hellmade, doom preaching ... (psychotic laugh) The Black Sheeps. They must have sold their souls. Just take a look. You have the toughest league (6 quality teams, and another 6 decent ones), only one allstar (which i doubt he is a true allstar material), playing in 2 different type of competitions... and still you win with +20 every single game.

Is it eric may, he is top10 Guards, but still can be neutralised, is it corradi? latest matches show that the blacksheeps can win without him contributing, is it aatje? not even close, a solid palyer nothing mutch.

Don't be fooled by the fact they didn't win the IC last season, they were the only team that decided to drop down from the IC by loosing on purpose in the 3rd round. In a few weeks we will see what this team is really made of.. ambrozia? molten tar? Untill then i advise you to take a closer look to this team's games and learn from their playing style as they are the best thing you can get right now.

Take a look at this game

and this one

How can you stop a team that can play both sharp defence and solid offence?

Draft day

Last night (day probably in the US) the NBA drafted took place, with a huge histeria and hype around two potential franchise players. At that point when i saw the entire show, i decided the that the World of Charazay needs something like this..

Not a draft (i know some would be delighted with this idea), not real player, not a new design... but histeria and hype.

From now on i will try and "draft" the best news and hot headlines in charazay on this blog. This is not going to be a blog about a certain team or player, but the entire Charazay World, with its champions, legends, wars, vendettas and more.
